A small milestone, but a milestone none the less! I've been trying to think of something cool to post for the 100th, but nothing cool came to mind. Here are my thoughts, First was to thank all of my loyal readers for reading on a regular basis and even commenting every so often. I hope that my blog provides a small bit of interest and entertainment in your busy daily lives. My second thought was to post on my running stuff, maybe even delay the 100th posting until my marathon and use the 100th to announce my results. But at 2 and a half weeks, it was too long to wait! A quick mention that I ran 4 miles in 32:35 (about 8:09/mile) today! Third thought on the 100th post was to make some ecological post, but since I forgot my canvas bags for the grocery store for the third week in a row....I wasn't sure I was a good role model for that.
Anyway, like most of my posts this one has turned into a rambling hodge podge of ideas. You know what, I wouldn't want it any other way!

Weekend Update
We had a busy weekend! Bridget was on call all day Saturday and didn't get home until about 10 AM on Sunday. So while she was working we were playing! Sydney completed her first set of swimming lessons. I don't want to say she was the star of the class...but she was! We signed her up for the next level, the Starfish, which starts tomorrow. We spent a little time gardening on Saturday and we played lots of toys and read the books that we got at the library earlier that afternoon.
After Bridget got home from work we all drove up to Park City for my weekly long run. Bridget takes her bike and the bike trailer for the kids. I run, she pedals and supplies me with water and power gel packets. I ran 18.42 miles yesterday, and overall it went very well. I averaged 11 minutes 12 seconds per mile, which was really good for me. The kids did really well up until mile 17.5. They both actually took naps for a couple of hours, but at the end Sydney managed to break Mommies heart by crying the sentence "Mommy why are you doing this to us?" So Bridget raced away to the car and got the kids all packed up and buckled in. Then on the way home we got the kids Happy Meals from McDonalds, Bridget and I got sushi from the grocery store (sounds scary, but it is actually VERY good)!
It was a good weekend.

To Tri, or not to try
So I'm torn. Most of you know that I am training for my first marathon, which is a mere 23 days away. I have realized that I really enjoy running, but maybe not 26.2 miles....that just might kill me! But I'm going to do it, and I'm just going to go out there and do the best I can. But on August 11th there is a local triathlon that is being put on by the rec center that I use 5 days a week. This is an important triathlon for me because I really wanted to do it last year, both Bridget and I really considered it. But we ultimately decided that we were not in good enough shape to finish the triathlon with a respectable time. Well, now I am in shape and would like to compare the results to the other 2 triathlons I have done this summer to see if there is improvement. So the trouble is....I am supposed to run 12 miles that day as part of my marathon training and after buying our camper we are super tight on money, there is a $30 entry fee.
Next summer I plan to focus on shorter running races, but mostly triathlons. I would like to step it up and try some longer distance triathlons, most of which are outside in nearby lakes and require wetsuits. I am not sure I'll do another marathon, we'll have to see what happens with this one first.

Grandma Karen
It took a few days, but Grandpa Tom and Grandma Karen got Simpsonized! The website seems to just get slammed with people, so if it works for you...consider yourself lucky! My pictures all came along with a certain level of cursing! Even Sydney took notice of that, she said "Daddy I didn't know you were a sailor!"

Simpsonize yourself
As seen on TV! If you are a Simpsons fan, you need to Simpsonize yourself into a cartoon. Find a good picture, and use Internet Explorer (no Firefox), and then head to www.simpsonizeme.com and remember to be patient. When you are done send me your picture and I'll post it! Here is our family:
