I just eclipsed 1000 miles of biking for the year! Yippie, hoorah! So I went for a 21 mile ride today, it was kinda crazy windy out there today. When I was going east/west the wind would gust and move me about a foot into traffic....sort of scary. But when I had the wind at my back....Lookout! I was flying! I intended to ride a little further, but when I had to ride straight into the wind for mile after mile I just broke down...even though I knew it was going to be fun to tun around with the wind at my back.
I also started cutting back my training for the big race (2 weeks from today), it's called a taper. So this past week I cut my training to 85% of normal. This upcoming week I think it is down to 75%, it's gonna be sooooo nice, since at 85% I thought it felt like I was on vacation from training. The idea is not to overwork yourself before a big event and the gains from killing yourself in the few weeks before a race are probably so small they outweigh the risks of injury....if that makes any sense.

and when you cut your training back, your muscles have the chance to rebuild themselves even stronger...
I'm excited to hear how the half iron goes!
